What time do I need to book a pick-up?

One of the most common questions from friends, family, and guests is how long before their flight should they arrange transport to the airport. I suggest booking your transfer to the airport to arrive at least 2 hours before your departure flight time. Time can pass quickly if you get stuck in traffic. My drivers know whether to stick to the main roads or take the back streets.

For example, leaving a resort in Tabanan to the airport can take more than 2 hours in medium traffic, which means leaving at least 4 hours before your departure flight. I recommend checking travel times using Google Maps and calculating your pickup time conservatively.

What queues are there through Bali Airport?

It’s helpful to know that you need to go through 4 queues, which can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the departure traffic.

Security Check: The first queue is the security check going from the arrivals hall to the airline check-in counters. Non-flying guests cannot go past the security check to the airline check-in counters. Have your passport and departure ticket ready (I just load mine on my phone and show them). Security will check them both with varying degrees of efficiency.
Flight Check-in: The second queue is for your flight check-in at the airline counter. If you followed my advice and arrived at the airport at least 2 hours before your departure time, you should be fine. However, beware that Denpasar airport check-in can be notoriously slow.

What is and what isn’t included?

The transfer rate includes being picked up from your hotel or villa by an English-speaking driver with an air-conditioned SUV for 1 – 4 passengers or a Toyota Minivan for 5 – 10 passengers. My rates are all-inclusive, and there are no hidden costs.
